I love this. I’ve used as a quiche crust and sausage roll pastry and both were very good. It’s slightly sweet so add some salt or herbs etc to use as a savoury pastry. The texture is like a shortcrust pastry but it holds together well and doesn’t crumble. I also used it as the dough for keto crackers by adding lots of grated cheese, paprika, and onion powder to the dough, rolling super thin and baking and they were amazing!
I was really hoping to love this pastry mix. It’s not the worst pasty mix for texture but I can’t get past the taste. It’s a little sweet and has a bit of a strange taste. The texture is nice, fluffy, but boy does it rise. This is way to much pastry mix for a small dish as suggested. I used a bigger 28cm flan dish and the edges are soooo thick (at least 1.5cm). I wasn’t able to roll out the pastry as it was too soft so I pressed it into the dish instead. The edges before cooking were around .5cm. The bottom didn’t rise to much under my egg filling. I found the taste of the pastry even overwhelmed the taste of my egg and bacon filling. I probably wouldn’t buy again.
